PVC at IBC 2026: Take a look at the new Pyro 7 Ultra from Hollyland 1

Hollyland has brought its new Pyro 7 Ultra integrated TX/RX monitor to the IBC 2026 show floor. The Pyro 7 Ultra aims to deliver the robust set of features crews expect from a high-performance transmission monitor, all the while keeping everything contained within a compact 7-inch frame. Now, filmmakers don’t have to choose between utility and portability.

We at ProVideo Coalition got to see this balance demonstrated in-person.

At the heart of the system is a 7.02-inch QD-LCD touchscreen with a 1920 × 1200 resolution, 1500-nit brightness and claimed color accuracy of Delta E ≤1.5. The display covers at least 99% of Rec.709 and 95% of DCI-P3, making accurate image evaluation a central part of the monitor’s design. Hollyland also specifies a 2.4/5GHz wireless system capable of transmitting 4K60 video over distances of up to 1km, with ultra-low transmission latency starting at 20ms when Focus Mode is enabled.

The Pyro 7 Ultra operates as a transmitter, receiver and monitor, allowing it to move between different roles depending on the production. A camera operator can use it as an on-camera monitor, while a focus puller or director can use another unit elsewhere on set to view the same feed. A single transmitter can support unlimited receivers in Broadcast Mode within the system, suiting different tasks facilitated by different members of a production. This flexibility makes it more than just a wireless receiver with a screen embedded in the middle.

For filmmakers, that could be particularly useful on larger or more mobile productions that involve multiple locations. A director can monitor a camera remotely without being physically tethered to the camera department, while a focus puller can work from a more appropriate position around the set. Hollyland has also incorporated camera-control functionality through SDK integration with supported camera manufacturers, allowing adjustments to be made from the transmitter or receiver.

The monitor itself is equipped with waveform, histogram, false color, LUT support and focus peaking: most tools cinematographers expect and covet. Hollyland’s HollyOS interface is designed around quick access to these image-analysis functions, while a dedicated Focus Mode is intended to help operators and focus pullers judge critical detail on the larger display.

Transmission is handled by Hollyland’s TWiFi system, which uses synchronized 2.4GHz and 5GHz paths and automatic frequency hopping to help maintain connectivity in congested RF environments. The system also integrates with Hollyland’s wider Pyro ecosystem, potentially making it easier for productions already using Pyro transmitters and receivers to expand their monitoring setup.

There are plenty of practical touches for production as well. The Pyro 7 Ultra offers HDMI and SDI connectivity with cross-conversion, V-mount power, DC input and a headphone output. It can also record and play back footage on set, with functions including reverse, loop and marked playback. On-screen shot markers can be used to help coordinate scenes remotely.

For cinema crews, Hollyland has worked with Tilta on compatibility with the Nucleus-M II Wireless Lens Control System, while optional cage solutions are aimed at protecting the monitor in more demanding production environments.
